Why Myrtle Beach Advertising Runs On A Different Calendar

Almost nothing about buying media on the Grand Strand behaves like buying media inland. Horry County’s year-round population is a fraction of the crowd it actually serves: the Myrtle Beach area drew roughly 18 million visitors in 2025, and roughly two thirds of all county sales tax is paid by people who do not live here. That means the audience standing in front of a screen in July is a genuinely different person from the one standing there in February, and a campaign written for one will misfire on the other.

The seasonal arc is long, not short. Summer families dominate June through August. Spring and fall belong to golf — something like 90 courses stretch from Pawleys Island up past the state line, and the shoulder months are when that traffic peaks. Winter brings the snowbird stay, which is measured in weeks and months rather than long weekends, so repeat exposure inside a breakfast spot or a sports pub actually compounds. Myrtle Beach International moved more than 3.8 million passengers in 2024 and keeps feeding all three of those cycles.

Our footprint follows that pattern rather than fighting it. Eighteen of the 24 placements sit in the beach-side corridor. Four sit about 13 miles inland toward Conway, where Coastal Carolina University enrolls more than 11,000 students and the audience is resident, not visiting. The last two are roughly 19 miles up the coast in Little River, the old fishing village at the top of Horry County just short of the North Carolina line. If you sell to locals — a dentist, a roofer, a gym, a car dealer — the Conway and Little River ends of this cluster are the half that matters to you. If you sell to visitors, the beach end is.

Buying This Market

Three Ways Advertisers Use The Myrtle Beach Cluster

Visitor-Facing, Summer-Weighted

Attractions, tours, watersports, dining and retail load up on the beach-side restaurants, cafes and the three hotels, then scale back after Labor Day.

Resident-Facing, Year-Round

Home services, medical and dental practices, insurance and auto lean on the sports bars, the pancake houses and the Conway and Little River placements, where the audience is resident rather than visiting.

Shoulder-Season Golf

Spring and fall campaigns aimed at golf and snowbird traffic run heavy on the bowling alley, adventure golf clubhouse and hotel screens without paying summer-level competition for attention.

Ads rotate every one to two minutes on 250+ screens across the wider Carolina network, so the same room sees your creative more than once per visit. Packages and rates for Myrtle Beach are on the billboards page.

Extend The Buy Up Or Down The Coast

Myrtle Beach sits in the middle of a chain of small coastal clusters. Adding one or two of them costs less than adding a second metro and reaches the same drive-time audience.

Booking A Screen In Myrtle Beach

You do not need a deck or an agency. Tell us which half of this cluster you want — beach-side, Conway-side, Little River or all 24 — roughly when you want it live, and what the ad needs to say. We handle the venue side; the screens are already installed and running.

  • Pick the venues or the venue type — you set the footprint, not us
  • Send artwork, or tell us what it should say and we’ll build it
  • Creative goes into the rotation without waiting on a quarterly ad calendar
